The Architecture of a Sequel

Archthrones is not just a map pack. It fundamentally restructures the game’s progression. Inspired by Demon’s Souls, you will traverse the Nexus of Embers to access five distinct, non-linear worlds.

The Convergence of Mechanics

We have retrofitted the engine with modern combat systems from Elden Ring and Sekiro. The passive “roll-spam” of 2016 is gone; aggression is now your primary defense.

Deflection System: Time your blocks perfectly to damage enemy posture.
Guard Counters: Punish enemies immediately after a successful block.
Curse Rework: “Enfeeblement” replaces instant death—fight through the attrition.
Visual Cue: Character performing a “Perfect Block” with sparks flying (Sekiro style).

IMPORTANT: INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

Archthrones runs on a specific legacy version of Dark Souls III (v1.15). It will NOT work on the current Steam version without modification.

Step 1: Own Dark Souls III + DLCs on Steam.
Step 2: Downpatch the game executable to v1.15.
Step 3: Install the Archthrones Demo files.

Is Dark Souls: Archthrones finished?

The current build is a substantial Demo (v1.1.3) containing approximately 30% of the final game, including 5 worlds and 17 bosses. The full v1.0 release is projected for late 2025/2026.

Can I play Archthrones on PS5 or Xbox?

No. Archthrones is a PC-exclusive mod that requires complex file injection (DLL hooks) that are impossible on consoles. It is not available on PS4, PS5, or Xbox Series X/S.

Will this ban my Steam account?

No. The mod uses a custom private server (DS3OS) and separates its save files from the base game. Your official Dark Souls III progress and account status are safe.

Why do I get a white screen on launch?

This is usually a resolution handshake error, especially on Steam Deck. Please consult our Troubleshooting Guide for the fix.
